Nevada exemptions from bankruptcy

Nevada Bankruptcy Law exempts some property from inclusion in your bankruptcy filing, including:

  • A homestead with up to $550,000 in equity
  • 75% of your weekly earnings
  • One vehicle with equity up to $15,000
  • Necessary clothing, certain books and family pictures
  • Household goods not to exceed $12,000 in value
  • Office equipment, manuals, supplies and tools of your trade not to exceed $10,000
  • $1,000 in any non-exempt property, money, stocks, bonds or other funds on deposit with a financial institution

Some people may think that the new bankruptcy law makes it impossible to obtain bankruptcy protection under Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. However, this is a myth. Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidates and discharges many of your debts and is available to people who can pass a means test. Chapter 7 is usually the easiest and most cost-effective way of obtaining debt relief.  Visit with one of our experienced Henderson, Nevada Bankruptcy Attorneys and see if a bankruptcy is the right fit for you.
